Steel Drum Band One

This steel band brings the best of the Caribbean islands to your event. This group travels regularly, including performing in Trinidad, the birthplace of steel drums. In the Atlanta area they have performed at Lakewood Amphitheater with the Jimmy Buffett show, at the Atlanta Zoo at the Montreaux - Atlanta Music Festival, First Night Atlanta, the Atlanta Arts Festival, Chastain Park and opened for the Atlanta Symphony, regularly at Stouffer Pine Isle Resort and Lake Lanier Islands Beach Park as well as Calloway Gardens Resort and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. They have toured throughout the Southeast performing at numerous, hotels, resorts conventions and arts festivals. They have also provided audience participation, including costumes, limbo dances and audience members playing instruments. This group has provided educational programs for all ages including the history of steel drums and of the many cultures that make up the melting pot of Trinidad. For university and adult audiences they provide informative lecture demonstrations including slides and videotapes of Trinidad steel drum bands with both band members as well as audience members performing on the instruments. This is the finest touring program of steel drum music in the United States. The instruments are special, one of a kind creations made by their inventor, and are scrupulously tuned to give the finest shimmering pan sound anywhere. All of the musicians hold advanced musical degrees and work as full time musicians. The musical arrangements show a virtuosity found nowhere else. Costumes include brilliant and colorful floral patterned shirts, white pants, straw hats and for the carnival section, sequined masks.
