| Gamolo Levitation
This is a self-contained levitation of a person, where he or she appears to float upward
to several feet over a table and a hoop is passed over the body. To make it more
entertaining, we have added a small flash pot and fog machine to simulate the body taking
off like a rocket, accompanied by appropriate music and sound effects. The greatest
features about this illusion, are that anyone from the audience can be used (with or
without a pre-show briefing) and that there are almost no theatrical requirements (such as
special lighting or cables) normally associated with this type of effect. Origami Box An assistant lies down inside the coffin-sized box, which the magician folds down to a two-foot cube. He then thrusts swords through all six sides. There is a mirror attached in such a way that all sides can be viewed at the same time. To make this more entertaining, we present the box as a Virtual Reality game, and the assistant (sometimes as a stooge in the audience) is invited to experience the realistic sensations. She exits from the box in a costume appropriate for her chosen destination (bathing suit, having chosen a California beach), implying her travel and return through space and time. Mini-Kub Zag The assistant enters a vertical box that barely contains her body. She places her hand through a small hole for all to see. The magician thrusts a wide blade through the center of the box, dividing it into two equal sections. He then places a large tube (nearly large enough to crawl through) into and through each half, in perpendicular directions, so that the audience can see through the box from any angle. The illusion appears to be complete at this point, but theres an extra step! The performer shifts the lower half to one side so that it is zigzagged between the upper half and the table that the box sits on. It does not seem possible that the assistant could still be anywhere in the box, but we all know she is, as her hand has been visible and moving throughout the entire routine! Our presentation of this illusion follows a humorous Port-O-Potty theme. Subtrunk This is the classic stage illusion originally presented by Harry Houdini. The magician is handcuffed, placed in a large bag, and locked in an examined heavy-duty shipping crate. The assistant stands on top of the box, briefly raises a curtain, and instantaneously switches places with the magician. The magician is now holding the curtain and the assistant is found bagged and cuffed inside the trunk. Moment's Notice - A box (approximately 32-inch cube) sits on a thin roll-on table. The front side is cut out so that the audience can see that the box is empty. The magician places various items (such as a costume or personal articles) into the box, and with appropriate voice-over and musical fanfare, he removes the cover and the items dramatically transform into a significant person from the sponsor's organization! This and other methods of producing a speaker or host can be customized for a stage presentation. Interlude - The magician stands in an A-frame box with head & shoulders, arms, and legs in view. His assistant climbs through the box, effectively and safely passing through the performer's torso. |
